As the season’s change we can’t wait to start bringing some beautiful autumn/winter looks into our homes. With the light fading and the colours turning, now is the perfect time to start considering the AW15 trends you would like to introduce into your interior design scheme.
Completely overhauling your home every season is, for most us, impractical but you can still add a touch of the interior design trends without going for a complete transformation. Deciding which new season looks to incorporate into your space can be tricky but our designers are on hand to give you a rundown of the most irresistible AW15 looks that you can bring home today…
#01.GOING GREY
Grey is here to stay in the world of interiors this season and is still being hailed as the most stylish neutral hue throughout AW15. Grey offers incredible versatility with shades ranging from dark and moody to cool and contemporary to warm and inviting. As the nights begin to draw in, darker shades of grey are also proving popular and slate and charcoal hues are layered with softer tones to create visual depth with a wintery edge.
A key interior design trend for AW15 is to place emphasis on the delicate detailing and textures of materials and fabrics and grey’s tranquil neutrality allows textures and finishes to be the focus. Across throws and cushions, chunky knits, woven cotton and embroidered finishes are adding a tactile edge to textiles and ensuring your interior space is inviting and comfortable as well as stylish. Across ceramics and lighting, matt grey textures have been prominent with chalky finishes creating stylish contrast and visual weight.
#02.INTO THE BLUE
This year the AW15 palette is drawing inspiration from the summer shades and blue is going to be featuring heavily in the coming months. The Mediterranean blue of the summer is making way for a deeper indigo hue that has a rich, inky quality and feels both glamorous and contemporary.
Indigo blues are a super stylish alternative to a classic black scheme and are easy to incorporate into your existing interior scheme to give it a swift new season spin. A designer rug with a rich texture is a gorgeous way to update a space for AW15 and introduces a feeling of warmth that is particularly welcome over the colder months.
To cut through the depth of the indigo blue hue, try combining it with AW15’s warmer neutrals which include nude and soft blush pink. These delicate hues are the perfect companion to indigo’s strength and add a soft femininity to the shade.
#03.HEAVY METALS
A touch of glamour and warmth is being added to AW15’s interior palette through elegant metallic detailing. Copper has been the most popular metal over the last two seasons and it is still featuring in the interior collections, adding a beautiful rosy warmth to the space.
As well as copper, brass accents are a key trend for AW15 interior looks. As well as adding an element of warmth to a space, brass adds an element of sophistication to a room. Candle holders, lighting and elegant furnishings with brass detailing are the perfect addition for deep blue schemes and metallic pieces that feature embossing or etching are particularly relevant this season. For a vintage edge, look to elegant mercury glass and incorporate it into your scheme through tea light holders and decorative glassware.
#04.COCKTAIL HOUR
Cocktail hour is making a welcome return for AW15! 1960s inspired drinks cabinets, bar trolleys and stunningly elegant glasswareare ensuring that all drinks are served in style this season! From ice buckets to cocktail shakers, the only way to enjoy your favourite tipple this autumn/winter is with a seriously stylish twist.
